Peppermint
I just love peppermint essential oil, it is in our peppermint, lemongrass and eucalyptus soap which is a great soap to use in the morning to awaken the mind & senses. It helps you to become clear-headed and can help you to focus and concentrate and help if you have mental fatigue. Peppermint oil prevents congestion of the blood supply to the brain and helps to clear congestion. A great essential oil for headaches or sinus congestion.
Lavender
If you read any of my blogs you'll find they usually contain lavender as a suggestion to heal many issues and lifting low mood is surely one of these benefits. It blends really well with citrus oils such as orange or lemon. It can produce a sedative or a stimulant effect depending on your needs, how wonderful! It helps to calm a busy mind and can revive the spirits if you are feeling depleted or down. It also helps to alleviate stress,anxiety and insomnia. A true all rounder that is a must for your 'smell to get well' toolkit.
Lemongrass
The refreshing scent of lemongrass is uplifting and energising. It is great to use when you need to clear the mind or wherever you need to think clearly or concentrate. Lemongrass is great if you are feeling a bit sluggish and need a 'pick me up' especially if you are feeling anxious or depressed. It is quite a pungent smell so if you add it to a blend don't add too much or it will overpower any other essential oil.
Sweet orange
Sweet orange cant help but lift the spirits, it helps to reduce self doubt and fear of the unknown. It is considered to have mild sedative and antidepressant effects. Many of the citrus family of essential oils are known to lift the mood. It is great for the treatment of anxiety, nervousness and insomnia (it is one of the essential oils in our sleep bath salts) and it's beautiful fruity scent cant help but delight the senses.
Lemon
Not only is lemon essential oil a tonic for the circulatory system, it is said to be a high vibrational oil which can help to lift the spirits and help you to overcome mental fatigue. Lemon oil clears the mind and helps with decision making! Studies in Japan found that when dispersed through the room, lemon oil reduced typing errors by 54%. The scent itself is refreshing and reviving, like a breath of fresh air! It's also a great cleansing oil. I use it in our aura cleansing bath salts and smudge energy cleansing spray.
