The Power of Internal Validation: Why It Matters and How to Cultivate It ✨

In a world that often places so much emphasis on external achievements, recognition, and validation, it’s easy to forget that the most meaningful affirmation we can receive is the one we give ourselves. Internal validation is the practice of acknowledging your worth, feelings, and achievements without relying on external approval. It’s about creating a solid sense of self, independent of the opinions or praise of others.

My Journey with Internal Validation and Finances 🌙💰

As a human design reader and coach i'm super interested in lunar energies, I’ve come to understand the powerful influence of our moon sign on our subconscious beliefs and emotions, especially around self-worth and finances. For me, having a Leo Moon means that validation and recognition are closely tied to my sense of security and financial success. However, relying solely on external praise can create unnecessary pressure and feelings of inadequacy when that recognition isn’t received.

For Leo Moons, financial success can often be linked to self-worth. We may feel the need to project an image of success or seek admiration to confirm that we’re doing enough. But over time, I learned that true validation must come from within, independent of external praise or financial milestones.

Why Internal Validation Is So Important 💡

Relying solely on external validation can lead to a fragile sense of self-worth, where your confidence fluctuates based on others’ feedback. This constant need for outside approval can make you feel disempowered, anxious, and disconnected from your authentic self.

Internal validation, on the other hand, is deeply rooted in self-awareness and self-acceptance. It allows you to:

  • Build Resilience: You become more resilient in the face of criticism or failure because your worth isn’t dependent on others' opinions.

  • Enhance Authenticity: You make choices that are true to you, rather than being influenced by the need for approval or admiration.

  • Reduce Anxiety: You stop seeking constant reassurance and allow yourself to embrace imperfection, knowing that you are enough just as you are.

When you practice internal validation, you become your own biggest supporter, which leads to a more empowered and fulfilling life.

How to Cultivate Self-Validation: 5 Practices for Building Inner Strength 🌿

1. Acknowledge Your Feelings Without Judgment

One of the first steps to internal validation is to acknowledge your feelings without trying to dismiss or minimize them. When emotions arise—whether it's joy, sadness, anger, or fear—recognise them as valid experiences.

  • Practice: When you’re feeling overwhelmed, take a few moments to breathe deeply and silently affirm, “It’s okay to feel this way.” Allow the emotion to exist without judgment or the need to change it immediately.

2. Celebrate Your Achievements, Big or Small

We often dismiss our accomplishments, focusing on what we didn’t do or what went wrong. Reframe this by taking a moment each day to recognize even the smallest wins.

  • Practice: At the end of the day, write down three things you accomplished or feel proud of. It could be as simple as finishing a task, making time for self-care, or practicing kindness.

3. Speak Kindly to Yourself

Your internal dialogue has a significant impact on your self-perception. Practice positive self-talk by becoming aware of how you speak to yourself, especially when facing challenges.

  • Practice: Replace critical thoughts with compassionate affirmations. For example, instead of thinking, “I always mess things up,” say, “I’m doing my best, and that’s enough.”

4. Set Boundaries to Protect Your Energy

Internal validation also means knowing when to say "no" to protect your energy. When you prioritize your well-being over external demands, you reinforce your worth and cultivate self-respect.

  • Practice: Identify situations where you feel drained or compromised. Practice setting firm boundaries by respectfully saying no or asserting your needs.

5. Create a Daily Affirmation Practice

Affirmations are powerful reminders of your worth and abilities. By affirming yourself daily, you gradually shift your mindset from seeking external validation to recognizing your intrinsic value.

  • Practice: Choose affirmations that resonate with you, such as: “I am worthy of love and respect,” or “I trust myself to make the right decisions.” Repeat these affirmations each morning or write them in a journal.

Internal Validation and Financial Well-Being: A Leo Moon Perspective 🌙💰

As someone with a Leo Moon, internal validation isn’t just about self-acceptance; it’s about breaking through subconscious beliefs around worth and financial success. A common challenge for Leo Moons is feeling that financial setbacks or lack of recognition directly affect self-worth. This moon placement often craves praise and can find it challenging to detach self-value from others' perceptions.

Through my journey, I’ve learned that detaching financial success from my identity has been a key practice. Here’s how I approach this with my lunar energy:

  • Release the Fear of Failure and Lack of Recognition: I recognize that my financial worth and self-worth are not dependent on others’ praise. I give myself permission to take risks without fear that failure will reflect poorly on my identity.

  • Overcome Over-Investing in Appearances: I focus on creating sustainable financial goals that align with my values, rather than chasing luxury or external validation.

  • Affirm Self-Worth Beyond Financial Success: I affirm daily that my value is not defined by my achievements but by my authenticity and dedication.

Embrace the Cycles of the Moon for Financial Manifestation 🌑🌕

Incorporating the cycles of the moon into financial practices can be a powerful way to align with your intentions. Here’s how I work with these energies:

  • New Moon: Set clear intentions for financial growth and plant seeds for new projects. Focus on affirmations like, “I am open to receiving new opportunities and wealth.”

  • Full Moon: Reflect on your progress, celebrate your successes, and release any limiting beliefs or blocks. Write down what no longer serves you, and let go with gratitude.

Building a Foundation of Self-Worth 🌱

Internal validation is not about rejecting praise or feedback from others; it’s about building a strong foundation of self-worth that doesn’t crumble when external validation is absent. When you validate yourself from within, you allow others’ recognition to be an addition to your self-esteem, not the source of it. You create an unshakeable sense of self that remains steady, regardless of circumstances.

Embrace Your Inner Voice

Ultimately, internal validation is about learning to listen to and trust your inner voice. It’s about quieting the noise of external expectations and reconnecting with the truth of who you are. By practicing self-acceptance, celebrating your wins, and setting healthy boundaries, you cultivate a deeper relationship with yourself that enriches every aspect of your life.
